Hartley Wintney 4 Lymington Town 0

What a contrast to last Saturday's performance when tonight the lads produced one of their finest first half displays of the season right up with their performances against Havant and Bedfont Sports. I said that the sparkle was not there Saturday, but bingo it certainly shone through as the lads completely blitzed Lymington to move into the quarter finals of the Hampshire Senior Cup.
It was pretty clear we were up for it from the start and it was not long before Sam put Duffy through to open the scoring and from then on it was really mostly one way traffic with Hartley playing the ball around and enjoying themselves, especially with the train flying up and down the wing, and after continually piling on the pressure
Sam got his first and soon after another but we really could have had half a dozen by half time as shots were blocked or scrambled clear or went narrowly wide. 3-0 at half time - game over.
The second half was a much more subdued affair with the lads obviously taking their foot of the gas and sitting back and allowed Lymington to have more of the ball giving them a couple of opportunities to reduce the deficit, although they hit the post, to no avail.

Then Sam deservedly picked up his hat-trick, after he had shown some neat footwork, and the lads should have had more, including at one stage they had three shots at goal all kicked off the line -- ping pong at its best -- but the supporters went home happy. It is always nice to have a cup run whatever the competition as it takes you more into the unknown and makes it more interesting.
Anyway it is back to business in the league on Saturday against Epsom and Ewell who always have a very talented side and will give us a tough game and I am sure the management will be saying that we will have to focus and keep our concentration levels up to overcome them which hopefully we will do. Up The Row!!!
