The second half performance by the lads was one of the best they have produced, among many, this season fortunately on the best pitch in the league, by slowing the game down, keeping the ball on the ground, and probing away until an opening manifested itself, and if it was not for the excellence of the Windsor keeper, who made a number of great saves, and then marred it all by his unsportsmanlike attitude in getting Liam booked for handball, we could easily have doubled the score. Whilst talking of keepers 16 year old Jake Maddock gave a sound display in goal for us and must be absolutely delighted in keeping a clean sheet.
In the first half it was more end to end stuff with both sides having chances, but it was from a great little run from Sam that gave Shane the opportunity to thrash the ball home and we then could not capitalise on any chances we had after that, so it was only 1-0 at half time.
As I have said the second half was a different story and
we dominated the game for long periods with JP and Jonesy and Dean, who surprisingly was switched to full back, but have a great game, taking charge of the midfield and it was from one sweeping move from right to left and back into the centre gave Shane the chance to hammer in his second. From then on it was really one way traffic, with only the odd sortie from Windsor and the Eagle finished off another fine move to kill the game. A fine team performance all round you could not ask for more. Well done lads.
I am sure the management were just as pleased as the supporters to see the confidence oozing through the players as the game progressed with another three points in the bag and pulling further and further away from Ashford. It is a pleasure playing and watching at Windsor and it is a pity they are not nearer as we could
ground share with them!!!!
