Salisbury v. Hartley

Well at long last little ole Hartley produced a sterling performance especially in the second half to secure their first point against one of the big boys since they stepped into the Premier Division.
Oh it would be fantastic if 500 plus spectators invaded our ground every home game and thronged the bar afterwards like them, but alas we have to make do with our more limited resources which makes us such a great club.
We certainly tightened our defence somewhat and it was a pleasant surprise when we took an early lead through a flying header from Sam, but we then left a gap for them to equalise and it was all square until early in the second half they took a fortuitous lead with a penalty for handball (or was it ball to hand) But then Jordan's cracking 25 yarder free kick into the top corner, which was worth the gate money alone, brought us back into the game and at the same time oozed more confidence in his own ability, and he soon had another free kick just tipped
over the bar. With the subs on giving us even more impetus ladyluck was not on our side as we piled on the pressure and their keeper was called into action to keep us out as the ball kept bobbing around in their penalty area as we searched for the winner. In contrast in the second half I do not remember Luke having to make a decent save. All in all we were unlucky not to take all three points which the lads efforts deserved.
Nice gesture of the lads at the end coming over and thanking our faithful band of supports behind the goal for their support.
Next stop Tuesday at home to Hendon and our abysmal home form of four defeats out of five. The question is are the lads going to turn up and play like today or will it again be the opposite? I have no answer to that, We will have to wait and see --- that's why we love football. UP THE ROW
