Colliers Wood Utd 1 - 3 Hartley Wintney
22 Aug 2015 - Combined Counties Premier Division

Good first half performance enough to secure all three points

Hartley took the lead after just 12 minutes when Ross Cook intercepted a pass and drove through one and one and rounded the keeper with some neat footwork and slotted the ball home. It took Cook only three minutes to double his goal tally. Parfitt won the ball back and threaded a pass through to the on running Cook, who bundled his way past the defenders and goalkeepers attempts at blocking the ball and scored into the empty net.

Sam Argent and a Ross Cook double fired Hartley to a 3-1 victory over previously unbeaten Colliers Wood FC on a hot and humid afternoon at the Wibbandune Sports Ground.

Cook could have made it three but it was ruled out for offside. It was a terrific move combining some neat passes from Parfitt and Jones who worked the ball to Argent, Sam then played an inch perfect reverse pass to Cook who hit it first time into the bottom corner. Would have been a great goal.

Sam Argent scored a terrific goal as he played a one-two with Shane Hollamby and fired a fierce strike into the roof of the net. A hugely well deserved goal and expertly taken.

Colliers Wood had one notable chance but it was cooly collected by Atkinson. Half Time: 0-3

Hartley started the game brightly but it was Colliers Wood who took advantage of some unusually sloppy defending and pulled one back for the home side. Colliers began to gain control and worked the ball into some dangerous areas. The ever-reliable Atkinson pulled off a number of important saves that helped us settle the game a little. Hollamby had a fantastic chance as the ball was whipped in by Zac Horkan and with a cute Cruyff turn on the full, he was denied with a last ditch tackle just outside the 6 yard box.

Argent also tried an audacious lob from distance when he spotted the keeper off his line which sadly went just over.

Hartley saw the game out but arguably Colliers had enough chances to get back to level pegging, but we too had some opportunities to extend our lead. Colliers Wood is a difficult place to gain a win, they always have good players who are capable of scoring goals and undoubtably they'll win a lot of games this year. We were disappointed the way we finished the game, but another three points in the bag which sets us up nicely our game on Tuesday night at Cove. [DB]
